Clark County Correctional Facility
Vancouver, Washington, USA

The Clark County Commissioners engaged Nielsen-Wurster to analyze the claims filed by the Contractor with regard to the construction of the $13 million Clark County Correctional Facility located in Vancouver, Washington. The Contractor alleged the County caused construction delays and disruptions due to: excessive design changes; untimely response by design professionals with regard to material approval; shop drawing review and requests for clarification; defective plans and specifications; and numerous change orders. Nielsen-Wurster analyzed 150 issues to provide a responsibility assessment and to determine causation and entitlement, including a schedule delay analysis; productivity analysis; change order impact review; and shop drawing submittal review. As a result of Nielsen-Wurster's work, the claim was mediated and successfully settled at terms very favorable to the County.
