Colombo General Hospital
Colombo, Sri Lanka
Nielsen-Wurster was engaged by FINNIDA, the foreign aid agency of the Government of Finland, with respect to massive change orders and claims between the Employer (the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health which was the recipient of the international aid), the Finnish Engineer and the Finnish/Sri Lankan General Contractor Joint Venture. The Project was a major addition of a specialized Womens and Orthopedic Hospital to Colombo General Hospital, the largest medical hospital in Sri Lanka. The issues involved significant allegations of design deficiency, unforeseen conditions, major labor issues, productivity and delay. Nielsen-Wurster prepared comprehensive analyses of the change orders, delay, disruption entitlement, impacts and responsibilities. After a presentation of Nielsen-Wurster's evaluations and recommendations to all parties, claims were amicably resolved based upon those recommendations.
