Great Adventure
Jackson, New Jersey, USA

Great Adventure, Jackson, New Jersey, USA. The Lender and Legal Counsel for Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey engaged us to provide Project Management services and litigation support on an Amusement and Safari Park. The Safari Park was, at that time, the largest in the world, and the Theme Park was the largest in the Northeast. Our on-site and off-site task teams performed Project Management services during the completion phase of this Project, including: Project completion, construction close-out, negotiation of Contractor final payments and claims, claims analyses, litigation support and expert testimony. The effort was necessitated by Project delay and cost escalation beyond the ability of the Owner to sustain.

University of Washington Basketball Arena
Seattle, Washington, USA

Engaged by the General Contractor to prepare a schedule delay analysis on the University of Washington's HEC Edmundson Pavilion Renovation project. Work included the demolition of the interior seating, base slab, and concourse sections, the addition of a new gymnasium, locker rooms, sports medicine, and therapy rooms and complete renovation of all other offices. Maintaining the existing roof structure required the manufacture and installation of two large truss sections and a temporary jacking system during construction. The Contractor experienced three months of delay due to owner-initiated changes, electrical trade manpower shortages, and failure of existing HVAC system. Because the contractor’s planned sequencing had been disrupted, portions of the building had to remain incomplete in order to remove large pieces of equipment needed for interior erection of steel and the new HVAC ducting. We performed a delay and causation analysis as well as a productivity inefficiency analysis, both of which were used in settlement negotiations with the trade contractors and the University of Washington.

Yankee Stadium Third Tier and Related Expansion
Bronx, New York, USA

Following partial failures in the expansion to Yankee Stadium immediately upon project completion, the New York Yankees baseball organization engaged Nielsen-Wurster to evaluate compliance by the City, its Construction Manager (CM) and its Architect / Engineer during the addition of the third tier to Yankee Stadium. Nielsen-Wurster developed and recommended fixes that were implemented by the City, and performed analyses to determine the cause and responsibility for technical, workmanship and management failures that resulted in the performance failures and need for corrective work. Nielsen-Wurster analyses were then employed in renegotiating the terms and cost of the Yankee’s multi-year lease with the City, which enabled the Yankees to recover the damages from impacts that had occurred.
