History of the Firm and Introduction

Nielsen-Wurster's first foray into Dispute Resolution in the 1970s involved analysis and resolution of the roof casting system, one of the most innovative of its time, on the now demolished Kingdome, former home of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners.

In its early years, Nielsen-Wurster built its reputation on providing superior technical analysis of the problems faced on large construction projects in the United States, which resulted in the birth of its Dispute Resolution Division.

The 1980s saw Nielsen-Wurster involved as the preeminent consultant on prudence management auditing of the engineering, construction, and start-up of nuclear power plants in the United States.

As the large U.S. construction programs of the 1980s started to contract, Nielsen-Wurster stepped into the 1990s with expansion of its global network with offices on four continents.

In June 2008, the Dispute Resolution Division of Nielsen-Wurster was acquired by Marsh, adding complex construction dispute resolution and expert testimony as well as experienced management consulting and project risk identification and mitigation resources to Marsh Risk Consulting’s Construction Consulting Practice.
